Rheintacho Messtechnik GmbH, a globally active and successful manufacturer of speed measurement technology, takes its environmental responsibility seriously. As a result, the company's contribution is not limited solely to resource-saving production methods and responsible recycling behaviour.
In order to establish a positive attitude towards the environment deep within the company, the Freiburg-based enterprise began the process to attain ISO EN DIN 14001 certification in 2010. This standard is recognized worldwide as a standard for regulating voluntary self-monitoring and the introduction of an environment management system in the company. Rheintacho Messtechnik GmbH was successfully certified in early April of 2011.
“Being ecologically responsible and also gaining an economic advantage thereby is a natural part of our self-image, which we offer our customers and their customers with our products. The use of speed sensors for the economically optimised use of energy in hydraulic drives is an example of active, reliable environmental protection. Going one step further and initiating an environment management system binding for all employees and, thereby, sustainably effective, seemed fairly obvious,“ says Ralf Dilberger, Head of Quality and Environmental Management at Rheintacho Messtechnik GmbH.
In the future Rheintacho will focus on the entire economic chain with regards to ecological sustainability. The goal is to improve environmental precautions in operations and to help the environment by saving on resources and costs.
This included creating a connection between existing quality management measures, as well as work safety and accident protection measures, with the environment management system to create an ‘integrated management system’. This system includes the company's commitment to continuously examine itself and to analyse operational processes according to ecological aspects, all of which is in line with the “continual improvement process” approach.
The successful re-certification of the quality management system according to ISO DIN 9001:2008 took place parallel to the ISO EN DIN 14001 certification.
